Committees

 

Communication Committee

Mission Statement:
The Communication Committee, under the general direction of the Executive Council, promotes and facilitates communication between and within the Executive Council, the membership, and the public.

 

Governance Committee

Mission Statement:
The Governance Committee under the general direction of the Executive Council advises the Executive Council on Constitutional and Legislative matters.

 

Management Committee

Mission Statement:
The Management Committee, under the general direction of the Executive Council, shall provide a venue for the members to vote on issues and constitutional changes (AGM and/or General Meetings). Provide the financial framework for the Associations, and give recommendations to the Executive Council on the limits of the Executive Director (Delegation).

 

Oversight Committee

Mission Statement:
The Oversight Committee, under the general direction of the Executive Council, reviews and considers and reports to the Executive Council on the effectiveness of the governance of  MAHCP.

 

Social Action and Strategic Partnership Committee

Mission Statement:
The Social Action and Strategic Partnership Committee, under the general direction of the Executive Council,is responsible for social action and strategic partnerships for MAHCP.

 

Strike Readiness Committee

The Provincial Coordinator

  • Chair a provincial wide committee comprised of all chief strike captains.
  • Be accountable for contacting other unions with regard to support type issues. The provincial coordinator is not necessarily responsible for facilitating this but will be accountable to ensure this is carried out.
  • The provincial coordinator provides liaison with the Police.
  • The provincial coordinator creates a network for communications between all strike headquarters (cell phones, walkie-talkies, etc).
  • Responsible for keeping the captains and in turn the membership informed.  Will facilitate the positioning of a phone with an 800 number that will be manned at all times.

Chief Strike Captains

  • Every facility will have chief strike captain(s) responsible for the actions of picketers and members supplying essential services.
  • The chief strike captain(s) will have their name(s), address(es) and phone number(s) supplied to the local police.
  • The chief strike captain(s) will be responsible for securing and manning the local strike headquarter which is in close proximity to the employer. This may be a hotel room, vacant office space, a member?s home, etc. The strike headquarters must have telephone access, either by land line or cell phone.
  • Are responsible for maintaining a list of local strike captains for all areas in their facility.
  • Will ensure that sign-in sheets for picketers and essential services are maintained.
  • Will keep local strike captains and members informed regarding essential services, negotiations, strike strategies, etc.

Local Strike Captains

  • Should be an Association staff representative, if one is present.
  • Responsible for establishing essential services rotation for their department.
  • In conjunction with other departments in their facility establish picketing rotations for their department.
  • Help maintain sign-in sheets for picketers and essential services.
  • Be a member of the communications team.
  • Keep membership informed regarding essential services, negotiations, strike strategies, etc.
