Who are we?
The Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals (MAHCP) is a union of approximately 3,900 members. We represent more than 160 disciplines ranging from pharmacists, dietitians, physiotherapists, radiology technologists, respiratory therapists, lab technologists and many in-between. We are governed by a council of 20 members and led by President Bob Moroz.
What do we do?
MAHCP is a union of health care professionals dedicated to protecting, advocating for, and advancing the rights of its members through labour relations activities. Our vision statement is to increase the awareness and recognition of MAHCP to members, the public and government.
When did we start?
The Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals was founded on Oct. 22, 1970, at the Winnipeg General Hospital with 74 members of the Manitoba Association of Medical Laboratory Technologists (MAMLT). The union grew in membership numbers due to workers in other professions joining, so in 1975 the name was changed to the Manitoba Paramedical Association (MPA). As more professions joined the MPA ranks, the Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals name was adopted in 1985 to better reflect the varied membership.
Where are we located?
The MAHCP office is located at 101-1500 Notre Dame Ave. in Winnipeg, postal code R3E 0P9. The main office phone number is 204-772-0425.
Why contact MAHCP for interviews?
The leadership at MAHCP believes it is important for the public to remember that our health care system relies on more than doctors and nurses. In fact, there are more than 160 health care professions that patients in our system come into contact with every single day. MAHCP is the only union that is dedicated exclusively to representing technical, professional and paramedical health care employees. We have a unique perspective that we’d like to share with the greater community.
