Gain the power to improve your workplace and secure a brighter future for health care.
Thinking about unionization? If you’re working in an allied health profession, and you’re not already represented by a union, we’d be happy to help you learn more about the process and the benefits of MAHCP membership.
Unions are a collective, guided by principles of equity and fairness for all workers, and committed to championing health and safety, and respectful workplaces. Joining a union gives members a voice in decisions that directly affect them. By bargaining with employers as a collective unit, a union has the power to negotiate better wages, job security, and working conditions.
From occupational therapists to oral health professionals and from addictions counsellors to audiologists, allied health makes up roughly 60% of the medical system’s workforce!
Why choose MAHCP?
MAHCP is allied health.
We’re the only labour union in Manitoba solely dedicated to representing professional/technical and paramedical employees in Manitoba’s public health-care system. With more than 50 years of labour union history, MAHCP is proud to negotiate agreements for almost 90% of the 8,000 allied health professionals working in the province.
- Union dues are among the lowest of all of Manitoba’s labour unions at 1.25%.
- Our executive council is elected from within the membership, made up of health-care professionals who understand health-care issues and interests.
- We are a direct service model union, which means members can connect directly with knowledgeable Labour Relations Officers (LRO) for workplace guidance.
- Our LROs have access to in-house legal counsel with extensive experience in policy and individual grievance filing, and arbitration.
