MAHCP Active Member vs. Member in Good Standing
What’s the difference?
- “Active Members” hold MAHCP-represented professional/technical positions in one of our bargaining units. MAHCP serves as your collective bargaining agent, and provides qualified labour relations expertise, HR guidance on workplace matters, and representation. You can contact your designated Labour Relations Officer any time for professional support and answers to your questions about employment rights and collective agreement interpretation.
- “Members in Good Standing” are Active Members who have also signed an MAHCP union card or digital membership application. This is a technical term from the Association’s Constitution, and which grants all the same rights and protections as Active Membership, as well as eligibility to: run for and hold elected office, and vote in elections and on constitutional matters. Members in Good Standing can also apply for MAHCP scholarships and professional development funds, access member savings, and participate in General Meeting proceedings (speak at and/or vote). Completing the form also ensures we have your preferred, personal contact information to communicate confidentially with you about important union matters.
