MAHCP President’s year-end message

On behalf of the Executive Council and staff of MAHCP, I would like to wish every member a very Happy Holiday season and Happy New Year.

As we look back at the past year, there were certainly a lot of challenges. On the other hand, there were a lot of successes.

I hope we can all learn and grow from the challenges and take a few moments to enjoy the successes.

Standardization Fund

The Standardization Fund has finally been agreed to. We are just now receiving the revised salary scales for final review. Once that is complete, the new scales will be posted along with a detailed explanation regarding how these numbers were developed.

We had  been working at getting this completed in time for the new rates to show up on those members’ pay, but unfortunately it will likely be early in the New Year.

Recruitment and Retention Fund

As I have written before, this Fund is much more complex and will require more meetings with the employer to come to an agreement.

The original plan was to have this fund flowing by the end of this calendar year and obviously that will not be the case.

We did make a proposal earlier this month that would have had the first half of the fund flow to those members but we were not able to get the employer to agree to that proposal.

More details will follow in the New Year.

In Solidarity,

Bob Moroz, MAHCP President
