The Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals has been chosen as Honoree at the Canadian Diabetes Association’s 2015 Best Banting Gala.

MAHCP President Bob Moroz said this award is in recognition of the contributions our union and its members have made towards the fight against diabetes.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as honoree,” said Moroz, adding that in May members participated in the Lace Up for Team Diabetes fundraiser at Assiniboine Park.

“It’s a huge honour and it strengthens our resolve to continue to support the efforts of the Canadian Diabetes Association.”

The CDA’s 7th Best Banting Gala takes place on Saturday, November 14, 2015, — World Diabetes Day – at the Club Regent Casino and Event Centre from 5 to 11 p.m.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and the CDA estimates that about 116,000 Manitobans are living with diabetes.

The upcoming Best Banting Gala has a Las Vegas theme and features world-renowned hypnotist Sailesh Jiawan, coming to Winnipeg from California, among other guest performers. The emcee for the evening is CBC news anchor Janet Stewart.
