Updated February 27, 2026
Implementation update: Members working in the Northern Health Region and at CancerCare Manitoba should have seen their new wage scales and any eligible retro pay applied on January 30, 2026. Members working in WCHREO and for all remaining Shared Health sites (except CancerCare Manitoba) should have seen new wage scales and any eligible retro pay applied on February 13, 2026. Retro pay is calculated to April 1, 2025.
6-Step Standardization Background
The standardized 6-step wage scale negotiated during MAWS 2025 will enable members to reach top of scale sooner, while increases to the start and early career steps will strengthen recruitment.
Reminder that wages have not been negatively affected by the change, and scales with six steps or less have not be altered through this process. Access tools provided to you by the employer in the links below:
- A memo from the Compensation & Benefits team detailing how to determine your new step in the new scales using the employer’s mapping tool.
- 6-step mapping tool: A link to a PDF spreadsheet detailing how to compare where you were on the former wage scale versus where you are now in the 6-step structure (we’ve divided them up by EO below for convenience)
- Final wage scales: You will need to log in to your MAHCP Member Portal to access final wage scales. If you do not have a Member Portal account, set it up at the login page using your personal email and password. Please allow our team time to activate your profile.
If you have questions, or need help navigating the scales, please reach out to your HR contact or contact your LRO.
Terminated, transferred or retired, or know a MAHCP member who has?
Members who changed employer organizations any time since April 1, 2025 or left healthcare altogether through termination or retirement may be eligible for retro pay arising from the implementation of the 6-step scales.
