Home > News & Events > MAHCP message to members affected by wildfires

I wanted to take a moment today to send our members in Cranberry-Portage, The Pas, Flin Flon and surrounding areas a note on behalf of all MAHCP staff.

We have seen the images coming out of your region. If you’ve been personally affected by this terrible wildfire, know that we have been thinking of you. We were very relieved to hear that everyone made it out of the town safely, but any emergency evacuation is extremely stressful. We also understand phone, internet and cell services have been affected, adding to an already stressful situation.

Whether you’re a first responder or counsellor, or you’re volunteering in support of evacuees’ needs at one of the many sites, thank you. We can only imagine how much is being demanded of you, and the extent to which community members are relying on you to keep them safe and provide comfort and reassurance during this difficult time.

We appreciate everything you do, and we encourage you to take care of yourself. As a health-care professional, you have access to a free and confidential Employee Assistance Program through your employer. To access EAP resources, contact Manitoba Blue Cross at 204-786-8880 or 1-800-590-5553.

If you feel you could benefit from guidance or additional support from your MAHCP Labour Relations Officer, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Take care and stay safe,
Jason
