Manitobans rely on nearly 350 laboratory technicians and technologists at Dynacare locations across Manitoba. Doctors count on them, too. Without the 15 million lab tests Dynacare workers perform and process each year, family doctors and specialists can’t diagnose and treat Manitoba patients.

Unfortunately, Dynacare — a private, American-owned company — has allowed its wages to fall 20–50% behind public laboratories.
These severely underpaid workers, represented by the Manitoba Association of Health Care Professionals (MAHCP), will go on strike starting Tuesday, September 8 at 6:00 a.m. if Dynacare doesn’t come through with a competitive offer.

A strike could shut down all 22 of Dynacare’s laboratory and health services centres in Winnipeg, Brandon, and surrounding communities. No samples, no tests, no results. Dynacare workers don’t want that, but they are being forced to fight for the respect they deserve.
