Members’ Salaries Increase by 2.75%

Members will notice their next payroll deposit will be larger. It comes as a result of the April 1, 2013 salary increase of 2.75% negotiated by MAHCP on all rates within the MAHCP central table agreements. This is the last of the scheduled pay increases to MAHCP members’ salary schedules within our current agreement. The agreement will expire on March 31, 2014 and we have commenced the process of preparing for 2014 bargaining.

Another matter related to member salaries is the market adjustment fund. You will recall, in the last round of bargaining, that the employers committed to a market adjustment fund equivalent to 1% of payroll. Those dollars were to provide further increases for classifications that are behind what the market is paying within those professions. Meetings of the committee will next proceed on Tuesday April 16, 2013. The committee will look at how and to what classifications the 1% of payroll dollars will be distributed.

Night & Weekend Premiums Increase by $0.15
Other positive financial changes within your contract that were effective April 1, 2013 are as follows;

  • Night shift premium increases of $0.15 to $2.05 per hour (article 1401-b)
  • Weekend premium increases of $0.15 to $1.65 per hour (article 1402)

Mileage Rate Decreasing by $0.01 per Kilometer
The mileage rates for members required to travel for work is expected to fall by $0.01 to $0.42 ($0.4644 north of the 53rd parallel). The rates are still unofficial rates. Actual rates cannot be determined until data on the average cost for a liter of fuel in Winnipeg, October 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013 is available later this month. The estimates assume an average price for fuel in Winnipeg to be between $1.10 to $1.20 per liter. Any change in the rates will be retroactive to April 1, 2013.

Members are encouraged to call or email the MAHCP office with any questions on these matters.
